Bassist Kassandra Ferrero began her musical studies at the age of 5 on piano, 9 on cello, and 10 on double bass. Ms. Ferrero performs regularly as an orchestral and chamber musician, and teaches in various settings throughout the Greater Baltimore area. Kassandra holds section positions in the York Symphony Orchestra, Missouri Symphony Orchestra, Endless Mountain Music Festival, and is a founding member of Mind on Fire, a contemporary ensemble in Baltimore. She also performs with ensembles such as the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Alexandria Symphony Orchestra, and the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra.
Ms. Ferrero received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music and her Master of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory, where she studied with Jeremy McCoy and Ira Gold. During her time at Peabody, she was the recipient of the Ruth Blaustein Rosenberg Orchestral Scholarship, which granted her a full tuition during her studies. Kassandra is also an alumna of the Brevard Music Center Orchestras, Chautauqua Institution Music School Festival Orchestra, and the National Repertory Orchestra, where she was awarded the Shaw Breast Cancer and Cancer Center Chair. In her free time, Kassandra enjoys cooking, hiking, and spending time with her husband and cats.
